DocPath amplifies its AS/400 solutions
Madrid, April 14, 2009 – DocPath, leading Spanish manufacturer of document technology, has introduced i-Tools and z-Tools, integration tools for i-Series and z-Series platforms. The i-Tools and z-Tools are integration tools that enable document generation and printing from different environments. The tools are developed on i-Series and z-Series platforms, respectively, but users can install the solution’s generating motor on a machine on any low cost platform, supported by DocPath, and generate documents in complete security.
Performing the document generation processes on another machine, instead of performing all the processes on the Host, enables users to considerably reduce the server work load. The i-Tools and z-Tools integration tools can operate as completely autonomous applications.
The principle features these tools provide are:
- Integration of DocPath applications with other platforms and systems is simple and transparent.
- RCost reduction of working on a low cost platform, as document generation processes are not performed on the Host.
- Totally integrated processes with the Host system, without losing control of transmissions to external platforms via TCP/IP protocol. If the machine designated to receive data transmissions is not available, i-Tools redirects the transmissions to another machine if it is available.
- Integration also enables balanced loading from the Host system to multiple external machines for parallel processing.
- Printers defined on the Host are still used.
The DocPath i-Tools integration tool was created to reduce the costs associated with using i-Series platforms, permitting the use of low cost machines (principally Windows type machines) without losing AS/400 control .
Operation consists in reading, with their corresponding attributes, the different AS/400 queues in order to extract the information they contain. Then the data is transmitted to external machines (with connection and control managed by DocPath utilities on the AS/400 system) for document generation processing and returned as a final output to the AS/400 queue(s). By performing all this processing apart from the i-Series system, saving of CPU memory consumption is vital, and printing management and control is never lost since this is performed on the i-Series machine.
