• One of Spain´s main educational events, the IT Olympics organized by the University of Castilla La Mancha, will celebrate a new edition this year with DocPath as one of its main sponsors.
  • Participants of this year´s edition are students from the Castilla La Mancha region. The goal of the Olympics is to encourage the use of information technology.

Madrid, January 28 2014DocPath sponsors one of the prizes of the 8th IT Olympics, organized by the University of Castilla La Mancha (UCLM). The event will take place from January to May 2014 and features students from the Castilla La Mancha region showcasing their IT skills.

DocPath has decided to team up with the event because of the company´s close relationship with the University. On the one hand, DocPath and the UCLM signed an Educational Collaboration Agreement a few years ago, which allows Computer Science students to work as paid interns at DocPath. On the other hand, the majority of programmers currently working at DocPath are former UCLM students. DocPath has also recently signed an R&D contract with SMILE, one of the university´s IT research groups.

The UCLM´s IT Olympics features students from the Castilla La Mancha region and has two categories: one for Senior High School students and one for students from any post-compulsory educational cycle.

The Olympics consist of 4 tests, 3 of which are to be performed online and 1 requiring the students´ presence on-site. The first test has taken place in January, the second is due in March and the third at the beginning of May. Then, on May 25, the last test will be taken at the UCLM´s School of Computer Science Engineering.

Each participating team consists of up to 3 students belonging to the same educational center. Subjects will be different for each category and each test, and are adapted to the subject matters that the participants have seen in class. Specifically, subject matters for Senior High School students are Basic Information Technology, Office IT and Programming. Students of other, post-compulsory educational cycles will take tests about Operating Systems, Databases and Programming.

The tests will be evaluated by the event´s Organizing Committee and the results will be published online.
