In 2000 a communications company with extensive business in Spain consulted DocPath about a challenge one of its clients, an international insurance company, had proposed.
This company wanted to be able to provide its agents in the field personalized contracts for prospective customers at initial consultations. Besides being personalized, they had to be quality contracts that both parties could sign on the spot. These contracts had to be able to be spontaneously generated on AS/400 platforms and transmitted quickly and safely over the network to the agents’ personal computers.
The DocPath solution that the customer selected
The solution was found in the QMF format. The client developed a web application which enabled its agents to enter data and generate remote transactions on an AS/400 platform. The transactions initiated DocPath jobs that automatically generated QMF files that were transmitted to the agents’ computers. Upon receiving the files, the client’s application was used to display the document in a browser using the DocPath QMF ActiveX visualizing tool.
After adjusting and finalizing the displayed documents, the insurance agents then could print the contracts on colour inkjet printers for signing.
