After a merging process between a large Brazilian company with other different companies, DocPath has become the key which centralizes and consolidates the original documents management process diversity to an integral and efficient document management system.
New corporate identity
In 2012, a Brazilian company assumed another corporate identity, which managed two large electronic stores in the country. As a result, the new organization was bringing together a wide range of technologies that made the business process complicated. In addition, being a large company – present in 18 different states, as well as in the Federal District, with more than 1,000 stores and 67,000 employees, – difficulted the entire document processes.
The Brazilian companies trajectory in this country market dates back to the fifties. Nowadays, the new line has become one of the largest stores in the world with gross sales of 24.9 billion Brazilian reais in 2013 (about 8.217 million euros).
The document and its management as an objective
In February 2012 the company took over the new corporate identity, which made the situation worse with the enterprise documents management. As an example, let’s highlight the following points: the company was working with the operating system ZOS, in a centralized massive documents process, as well as with Unix (IBM AIX) in high volume document printing and web environment; also, with iSeries in its distribution center; with a Linux distribution in all the stores network.
After implementing DocPath‘s advanced document technology, in 2013, through RICOH, as a Partner (formerly IBM), they put an end to the chaotic coexistence of different platforms and formats, with complicated simple processes such as generation of corporate documents in one of the environments; and even more, when trying to combine several operating systems. The strategy of DocPath´s document technology moved to put the energy on the document, and thus a total convergence of all platforms and formats was possible.
Optimal replacement
Despite the different type of technologies, there was no problem between the old and new platforms document management, although they were forced to live in harmony for a long time due to the complex situation from the beginning.
Nowadays, DocPath‘s document technology has become the standard from which all the company’s document management is being run. The organization has an innovative technology center, which operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing agility, excellence and stability to all of the company´s operations.
Document Management Solutions implemented
The DocPath document management solutions which have been implemented, that unified and simplified the documentation process are:
- DocPath Business Suite Pro for iSeries, which is used in the Distribution Center, where reports and documents with barcodes are generated.
- DocPath Remote Office Printing for Linux, is used in more than 1,000 stores in which business documents are generated in the PCL and ZPL formats.
- DocPath WebDocs Generation, that runs on Java for Unix (AIX) and generates online and on-demand documents in PDF format for corporate applications available on the Web / Intranet.
