BBVA and Fifth Third Bank
BBVA Success Story
Seamless JetForm replacement and a centralized document software and repository in the internal cloud
BBVA’s Problem
For over 10 years, BBVA used a document generation software, part of it was the JetForm Designer that presented important limitations for the evolution of the bank’s applications.
- There were many developers working on the same templates.
- There was no control over access and modification of the templates.
- There was a certain outdatedness between the machines of different developers
and errors were created and carried over throughout the document generation process when the templates were sent by mail between the development staff.
BBVA needed to implement a solution that could easily replace JetForm Designer and service all its offices, with a high generation volume. Looking for a company that did not require changes to their existing structure and that included interesting features, they found DocPath.
DocPath’s Solution
DocPath automatically converted the existing JetForm Designer forms and replaced the JetForm software without the need to modify the applications in the conversion of the documents, covering both offices and remote banking in different departments.
The new software provided is centralized in an internal cloud that can be accessed by remote banking employees as well as staff located in offices. Therefore, the same templates can be worked on and, thanks to the document generation engine included in the solution, these templates can be retrieved once they are generated.
The solution allows bank employees to connect to mainframe machines and have new features such as graphics, barcodes, or new output formats such as AFP for template creation and document generation. In addition, DocPath provided a resource repository, XF Repository, so that anyone at BBVA can access the templates, view the change history, and revert to a previous version of the template.
Benefits of the substitution of JetForm with DocPath’s advanced software solutions
The migration from JetForm Designer forms went smoothly, without affecting BBVA’s daily operations and the implementation of DocPath’s solution eliminated the need to have the document software installed in all offices as it is centralized, resulting in savings in software maintenance costs.
With container-based technology, BBVA has achieved greater effectiveness since they can provide service dynamically and have high availability in terms of document generation requests during work peaks.
BBVA can now control the development of templates by having a common repository that all developers can access and work with. In addition, with XF Repository and the design tool, dynamic documents such as contracts or invoices can be defined in an attractive format for the end user.
Fifth Third Bank Success Story
Rapid Migration from JetForm to DocPath’s Document Software Solution
Fifth Third’s Problem
Fifth Third Bank was running a legacy version of JetForm document software which has been unsupported for several years now – so they had an urgent need to replace it for a software with active maintenance. However, the bank wanted to minimize the impact of migration to another document software on their current environment.
JetForm only merged data with electronic forms without adding any extra features. Only such basic implementation was possible with JetForm’s limited functionalities. This approach forced Fifth Third to manually create electronic forms every time a new product was launched or some other change had to be made.
DocPath’s Solution to Replace JetForm
Fifth Third Bank contacted DocPath, a leader in document software solutions, for a solution that could replace JetForm while minimizing the impact on their current environment and applications.
After an initial meeting which thoroughly demonstrated that DocPath’s document software solution could replace JetForm legacy software without requiring any changes to the current implementation, new steps were taken to analyze whether, taking advantage of the migration from JetForm to DocPath, further improvements without disrupting the Bank’s current operations.
To implement the JetForm migration, DocPath engineers proposed a small change in which the old executable would be replaced by a new program called “Remote Generation Program” (RGP) that, accepting the same parameters and generating files in the same way as the old software, would take advantage of the new hardware and communications infrastructure.
By renaming the new program with the same name as the old JetForm executable, the document generation process could be centralized on a few servers in the Bank’s IT center. Also, the conversion of the old electronic templates was achieved with almost no conflict, due to the professionalism of DocPath’s technical staff and the tools created for this purpose.
Benefits of Migration from JetForm to DocPath’s Software Solution
The client was impressed that an unsupported legacy software such as Jetform could be replaced so easily without any disruption to their current environment or need to modify their applications, but even more so with the fact that they no longer had to go through the trouble of distributing the software and forms to each branch individually.
DocPath’s Ontario Suite, our Jetform migration solution, greatly improved the daily operation of Fifth Third Bank by centralizing document Generation into a single location, minimizing the risk of user error so that no branch would use obsolete templates or be unable to provide the necessary documents for a new product.
The ease of migration and the significant reduction in complexity in Fifth Third’s document software operations led to big savings. Moreover, the template conversion process saved the bank over $300,000 in professional services.
